Michael Hofmeyer is an exceptionally creative jewellery maker and designer. He allows his imagination to be inspired by sources as diverse as Australian flora and fauna, figurative and abstract art, the fine detailing of traditional Italian goldsmithing, and contemporary minimal industrial form.
Hofmeyer's award-winning jewellery is internationally renowned for its inventiveness, expressiveness and, not least, its wearability.
Michael Hofmeyer gained his mastery of traditional goldsmithing techniques studying under a master jeweller in Florence and his experimental impulses have allowed him to adapt these techniques to very modern ends.
He not only combines old and new techniques, but likes to use combinations of precious metals like gold, platinum and silver with more unusual metals like titanium, palladium and mokume-gane ever crafting unique pieces with great beauty and quiet power.
Integrity, workmanship and ethical, eco-friendly manufacturing practices are combined with the use of conflict-free, fair-trade diamonds and rough diamonds certified in accordance with the Kimberley Process an international agreement supported by the UN.
He is always working on a new collection of his own inspiration and also creates personalized engagement rings and wedding bands and other custom commissioned jewellery for individual clients. He welcomes corporate commissions as well as opportunities to remodel an old piece of jewellery into a new, more personally special piece. His work includes rings, brooches, necklaces, earrings, cufflinks and bracelets.
Hofmeyer's jewellery studio is located in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia). The studio/workshop setting allows clients the opportunity to discuss and choose the design of their jewellery and see the pieces taking shape. Michael Hofmeyer also travels extensively with exhibitions of his innovative designs. |
